Job summary

Estates and Campus Services is responsible for the security of the physical assets, staff, students and visitors of the University.

The role involves inspecting, testing, fault-finding, maintaining, servicing and repairing installed HVAC building services within university properties, based in Dundee. It requires carrying out statutory and reactive maintenance and contributing to the Estates Department PPM scheme while adhering to safe systems of work and associated control processes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in fault finding, servicing and maintenance on HVAC plant and equipment.
• Understanding working restrictions in live buildings and in multi-trade environments.
• Knowledge of health and safety management systems (risk assessments, permits to work, safe systems of work).

Responsibilities

• Carry out statutory maintenance, reactive maintenance and servicing of HVAC plant and equipment under instruction.
• Follow Safe Systems of Work as an appointed Person in Charge.
• Participate in Estates Department preventative planned maintenance (PPM) scheme and help desk.

Job description

Purpose of Role

To inspect, test, fault-find, maintain, service and repair installed HVAC mechanical building services within university properties.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out statutory maintenance, reactive maintenance and servicing of HVAC building services plant and equipment under the instruction of the building services coordinator (mechanical).
• To work in accordance with the requirements of an appropriate 'Safe Systems of Work as an appointed Person in Charge
• Participate in the operation of the Estates Department preventative planned maintenance (PPM) scheme and the associated management control system (help desk)

Knowledge & Experience

Demonstrable experience in fault finding, servicing and maintenance on a wide range of largescale industrial, commercial heating, hot water and general HVAC installations.

Understanding the working restrictions involved in live buildings, and specifically within areas where other relevant trades are likely to operate.

Knowledge of HVAC building services technologies, air handling units, fan belts, drive motors, pulleys, plant, equipment and infrastructure.

Knowledge of health and safety management systems. eg risk assessments, method statements, permits to work and safe systems of work.
