Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Building Services Lead to support a range of high-profile projects across our Energy & Power portfolio in the UK. You will lead M&E design for HV substations, HVDC projects, and associated HVAC systems, guiding design teams and delivering high-quality packages.

The role requires strong project leadership, experience with 132kV–400kV designs, familiarity with UK building regs and T&D standards, and a track record of mentoring junior engineers while maintaining client

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Building Services qualification/experience.
• Proven HV substation design experience (132kV–400kV) and/or HVDC converter stations.
• Familiarity with UK T&D standards and processes including National Grid, SSE and IEC.
• MCIBSE/MIET CEng accreditation or actively working towards it.
• Strong knowledge of UK building regulations.
• Proven project leadership and people management capabilities.
• Excellent technical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead building services FEED and detailed design workstreams for clients and contractors.
• Ensure QA and timely delivery of design packages and bids.
• Lead building services aspects in delivery including layouts, calculations and specs.
• Lead HVAC systems, ventilation, dehumidification, and environmental control for GIS substations.
• Lead building services for HVDC converter stations, incl. cooling, pressurised rooms, fire suppression, and auxiliary services.
• Design and specify gas monitoring, leak detection, and emergency ventilation systems.
• Coordinate with design engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Attend and contribute to design reviews, hazard reviews, FATs and SATs.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Support tendering activities and contribute to technical offers.
• Maintain strong client relationships and support business development.
