Job summary

Goodman Masson is recruiting an interim Building Safety Project Manager in London to lead a portfolio of major construction and building safety projects. You will oversee from inception to completion, ensuring safety, on-time delivery, budget control and full legislative compliance.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing complex construction or capital investment projects.
  • Strong knowledge of building safety legislation and residential regulation.
  • Experience delivering remediation, fire safety, refurbishment or planned investment programmes in housing.
  • Proven ability to procure and manage consultants and contractors.
  • Excellent contract management and commercial awareness.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication with residents and senior colleagues.
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Relevant qualifications in Construction, Building Surveying, Project Management or related discipline.
  • Experience with external wall remediation or complex building safety programmes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of capital investment and building safety projects from feasibility through to completion.
  • Delivering fire safety, remediation, planned maintenance and refurbishment programmes across residential assets.
  • Preparing project specifications and working with external consultants to develop technical solutions.
  • Procuring consultants and contractors in accordance with procurement and governance requirements.
  • Managing project budgets, forecasts, cashflow and financial reporting.
  • Monitoring project programmes, quality, risks and compliance throughout delivery.
  • Leading contractor and consultant performance to ensure high standards of workmanship and value for money.
  • Maintaining comprehensive project documentation, reporting and governance records.
  • Supporting funding applications where appropriate.
  • Managing project risk registers and ensuring mitigation strategies remain effective.
  • Ensuring completed projects are successfully handed over to operational teams with all required documentation, training and compliance information.
  • Working collaboratively with residents and internal teams to minimise disruption and provide regular project updates throughout delivery.

Job description

Goodman Masson is currently working with a social housing organisation in London to recruit for an interim Building Safety Project Manager.

Rate - £450 - £550 a day INSIDE IR35 umbrella

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a diverse portfolio of major construction and building safety projects, including fire safety improvements, remediation programmes, planned investment works and wider capital projects. You'll take projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and fully compliant with current legislation.

The Role

As Building Safety Project Manager, you'll oversee multiple construction projects while managing consultants, contractors and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

We're looking for an experienced construction professional with a strong understanding of building safety legislation and project delivery within residential property.

You’ll ideally have:
  • Proven experience managing complex construction or capital investment projects from inception through to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of current building safety legislation, fire safety requirements and building regulations.
  • Experience delivering remediation, fire safety, refurbishment or planned investment programmes within residential property.
  • Demonstrable experience procuring and managing consultants and contractors.
  • Excellent contract management and commercial awareness.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage with residents, contractors, consultants and senior colleagues.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to risk management and project delivery.
  • Relevant qualifications in Construction, Building Surveying, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience of external wall remediation, façade replacement or complex building safety programmes would be highly advantageous.
