Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking building physics specialists to join our Buildings Unit, delivering masterplans and net zero strategies. The role focuses on thermal and visual comfort, energy performance, and climate resilience across diverse projects.

Based in the UK with hybrid working options, you will work with stakeholders and design teams to implement effective design solutions and coach junior staff.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Building Physics or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, building architecture or similar.
• Working towards MCIBSE or equivalent.
• Experience with IES VE and EDSL Tas engineering modelling.
• Experience with IES APACHE HVAC and/or EDSL Tas Systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out thermal modelling of buildings at different scales to guide design decisions.
• Prepare qualitative assessments to inform early-stage design.
• Develop parametric modelling studies for building stock decisions.
• Support and coach junior teammates in delivering projects.
• Assist senior teammates in project delivery.
• Prepare fee proposals, scope of services, and resource programmes.
• Lead programme and resource management.
