Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking highly motivated Building Physics specialists to join our Buildings Unit in the UK. The role focuses on applying physics to masterplans, buildings and public realms that are energy efficient and climate resilient.

The position sits in a team delivering projects across the built environment, including design reviews and net zero carbon strategies for public sector clients. Hybrid working is supported across multiple UK offices.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Building Physics related subjects such as Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Design Engineering, Modern Building Design, Sustainable building design.
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, building architecture or similar.
  • Working towards MCIBSE or similar.
  • Competency in IES VE and EDSL Tas Engineering modelling packages, on regulatory and design modelling exercises.
  • Experience in IES APACHE HVAC and/or EDSL Tas Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out thermal modelling of buildings at different scales to determine thermal comfort, visual comfort, energy performance, climate resilience, impacts on climate, carbon assessments etc.
  • Preparing qualitative assessments to provide early-stage design advice and guidance to the design team.
  • Developing parametric modelling studies to guide design decisions at building stock level.
  • Supporting and coaching junior teammates in delivering projects.
  • Assisting senior teammates in delivering projects.
  • Preparing fee proposals, scope of services and resource programmes.
  • Leading programme and resource management.
