Job summary

Build Recruitment is seeking a reliable Building Maintenance Operative to support maintenance and repair work at a large commercial property in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role requires practical, hands-on experience and a proactive approach to team support.

The position is a 6 Month FTC with a pro rata salary of 35k, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, with Monday to Friday hours. You will work alongside Building Services Technicians and report progress to Contract Managers, ensuring timely, thorough

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance or a similar role.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and time management.
• Basic IT skills: Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Proactive, able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and keep plant rooms, equipment and associated areas clean, tidy and well organised.
• Clean and paint plant, equipment and plant room floors as required.
• Carry out chemical cleaning of equipment using high‑pressure jet washing equipment.
• Deliver maintenance spares and materials to site as required.
• Undertake basic building maintenance duties, including meter readings and tap temperature checks.
• Provide practical support and assistance to Building Services Technicians.
• Maintain effective communication with clients, suppliers, colleagues and other stakeholders.
• Organise workloads efficiently and work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Complete clear, accurate reports detailing work undertaken and recommending any further remedial works where necessary.
• Submit accurate weekly timesheets.
• Liaise with Contract Managers regarding work progress and outstanding tasks.
