About the Role - The post holder will handle various building control, integrated planning, and housing adaptation duties. Responsible for managing multiple projects daily, ensuring, as far as practicable, compliance with building regulations and standards of construction and/or conversion projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support and mentor less experienced technical staff to ensure standards and service levels are maintained in all aspects of RBCA and related activities
  • Assist in the introduction and delivery of new products and services as required
  • Assess applications
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and seminars as needed
  • Represent the business professionally as an advocate for Assent
  • Manage a portfolio of projects within a designated geographical area
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients and team members
  • Manage inspection schedules efficiently and coordinate plan checks
  • Maintain accurate inspection records
  • Foster relationships with customers to promote business development
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to build meaningful relationships

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and process-oriented mindset
  • Ability to make pragmatic decisions to ensure safety and compliance
  • Capability to work independently and remotely following established policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Chartered or working towards full membership of the Chartered Institute of Building Engineers or RICS
  • Hold and maintain appropriate Technical Class 3 or 2F RBI status
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, technical guidance, and the impact of The Building Safety Act (2022)
  • Understanding of health and safety principles
  • Knowledge of the construction design process and RIBA Stages of work
  • Familiarity with competency frameworks and professional conduct rules
  • Understanding of customer care principles and equal opportunities in Building Control
  • Experience in ensuring compliance with Building Regulations across various building types and projects
  • Effective self-management for site inspections and reporting
  • Ability to assess safety and risk in a building control environment
  • Strong internal relationship-building skills across all business areas
  • Relationship management with design and construction teams
  • Assessing compliance against regulations and legislation
  • Experience in plan checking for diverse project types
