Job summary

Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor / Registered Building Inspector (RBI) to join its Building Control team in Lambeth, London. You will assess Building Regulations applications, undertake plan appraisals and site inspections, advise applicants and professionals, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

The role involves managing a varied caseload and supervising junior inspectors where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Must be Registered Building Inspector with Class 2A-2F competence.
• Strong Building Control experience and knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Excellent technical assessment, inspection and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently and make sound professional decisions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assess Building Regulations submissions and undertake plan assessments.
• Conduct site inspections across Lambeth and review drawings/structural calculations.
• Provide advice to builders, architects and other stakeholders.
• Handle enforcement matters and court attendance where required.
• Supervise junior Registered Building Inspectors within competence.
