Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Full-Time Class 3 Registered Building Inspector to work as a Building Control Surveyor on a contract for up to 12 months. The role focuses on higher-risk residential building remediation, unsafe cladding, and enforcement activities to support MHCLG expectations and building safety requirements.

The successful candidate will inspect and assess complex cases, provide expert technical advice, and assist with case progression and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

• Class 3 registration as a Registered Building Inspector is required.
• Significant experience in building control, building safety or regulatory enforcement.
• Knowledge of higher-risk residential buildings and unsafe cladding issues.
• Understanding of fire safety and remediation requirements.
• Experience of inspections, technical assessments, evidence gathering and enforcement investigations.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking inspections of higher-risk residential buildings.
• Assessing external wall systems, unsafe cladding and remediation solutions.
• Reviewing fire safety and building safety risks in complex cases.

• Providing expert technical advice on building control and remediation matters.
• Supporting decisions on interim safety measures and escalation to the Building Safety Regulator.

Job description

Our client is seeking a Full-Time Class 3 Registered Building Inspector to work as a Building Control Surveyor. This contract role, offered for up to 12 months, will support higher-risk residential building remediation and enforcement activity, including cases involving unsafe cladding and external wall system defects.

The role will strengthen the Council's technical capacity to inspect, assess and progress the remediation of higher-risk buildings. It will involve supporting regulatory compliance, resident safety and enforcement activity in line with MHCLG expectations and relevant building safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertaking inspections of higher-risk residential buildings


• Assessing external wall systems, unsafe cladding and proposed remediation solutions


• Reviewing fire safety and building safety risks associated with complex cases


• Supporting enforcement investigations, evidence gathering and case progression


• Providing expert technical advice on building control and remediation matters


• Supporting decisions relating to interim safety measures


• Assisting with the escalation of cases to the Building Safety Regulator where appropriate


• Contributing to MHCLG and DELTA reporting requirements and supporting resident engagement

Job Requirements:

• Class 3 registration as a Registered Building Inspector


• Significant experience in building control, building safety or regulatory enforcement


• Knowledge of higher-risk residential buildings, external wall systems and unsafe cladding issues


• Understanding of fire safety, building safety risks and remediation requirements


• Experience of inspections, technical assessments, evidence gathering and enforcement investigations


• Ability to provide clear technical advice on complex building control cases
  
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents and professional stakeholders


• Full driving licence and the ability to work collaboratively with Environmental Health, Legal Services, Building Control and Fire and Rescue Service partners
  

Contract Details:

This is a full-time contract position for up to 12 months. An interview will be required to confirm appropriate qualifications, registration, knowledge and experience for this specialist building control role. If you are a Class 3 Registered Building Inspector with experience in higher-risk residential buildings, remediation and enforcement.
