Summary

The Building Manager will support the Area Lead in the day-to-day construction planning, engineering, and works progression of specific allocated building(s), leading multidisciplinary teams to successful, safe, and quality-assured construction completion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing and demonstrating positive HSE leadership and a strong Nuclear Safety Culture throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Managing interfaces and collaborating with NNB as Principal Contractor under CDM legislation.
  • Coordinating with all contractors on site to ensure access solutions and work sequences meet the construction schedule.
  • Managing interfaces between MEH partners and subcontractors for construction success.
  • Overseeing construction progression through Discipline Leads for Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, scaffolding, insulation, and painting activities.
  • Ensuring all construction activities align with relevant specifications.
  • Maintaining and communicating progress reports, forecasts, and issues to the Building Lead.
  • Supporting the management of the Building DWP process.
  • Creating, updating, and validating the List of Applicable Documents (LAD).
  • Conducting productivity reviews and providing reports to the building lead.
  • Developing access strategies and ensuring availability of materials and plant.
  • Managing the production and review of Health & Safety, Quality, and Construction documentation.
  • Handling project changes within your building scope, adhering to processes and coordinating scope adjustments.
  • Engaging with constructability reviews to optimize installation sequencing.
  • Reporting on construction productivity.
  • Applying engineering skills to assess risks and practicalities of construction activities.
  • Maintaining Procon reporting data for your building(s).
  • Ensuring timely delivery of the building within budget and quality standards, and reporting as per HPC requirements.
  • Promoting health and safety through site inspections and safety rule enforcement.
  • Ensuring compliance with nuclear safety and site license requirements.
  • Producing weekly and monthly reports for the scope and submitting them to the Area Manager.
  • Fostering good industrial relations and resolving issues efficiently.

Qualifications and experience:

Relevant degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or HVAC discipline, or HNC with extensive experience in similar roles.

Proven track record of safely delivering large-scale construction or engineering projects at a management level.

Experience in heavy industry or nuclear sectors is advantageous, as is experience with joint ventures.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Process-driven with lateral thinking capabilities.

IOSH Managing Safely preferred.

CCNSG or HSE MaPs Safety Passport.

Ability to obtain BPSS or higher security clearance.
