Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for a Vehicle Build Engineer to join our growing Operations Team here at Holman UK. For the first 6 months you’ll need to spend at least 5 days a week in the office before we move you over to our hybrid model of Tues-Thurs in the office whilst working from home on a Monday and Friday, so please bear this in mind when applying. This is a permanent opportunity, and the salary is circa £40,000.00 per year dependent on qualifications and experience.

We are looking for a self-starter with experience of working with a specialist vehicle fleet e.g. platform elevating vans and HGV's, overhead poling vehicles etc. who is comfortable dealing with the repair of assets.


Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with our maintenance and specialist vehicle teams, using your extensive technical knowledge to proactively prevent vehicle downtime.
  • Setting up service schedules for LCVs, HGVs and ancillary equipment for new and existing vehicles.
  • Setting up service sheets for vendors.

Ideally, you’ll have workshop knowledge, couple with demonstrable and detailed knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics, preferably extending to include HGV and ancillary equipment fitted to vehicles. You will be computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications - primarily Outlook and Excel. Qualifications or good knowledge around vehicle compliance requirements and full appreciation of the necessity of vehicles and equipment being compliant.

What are we looking for?

Education and/or Training:

-Technical vehicle related qualifications such as City & Guilds or equivalent

-Demonstrable, detailed knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics, preferably extending to include HGV and ancillary equipment fitted to vehicles

-Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications - primarily Outlook and Excel

-Qualifications or good knowledge around vehicle compliance requirements and full appreciation of the necessity of vehicles and equipment being compliant

• Experience in a workshop environment or similar

• Experience working within a team in an office environment

• Adept at computer use and familiar with Microsoft applications

(Ranges from task-focused to integrating related functions, to broadly strategic integration)

• Demonstrable analytical and problem solving abilities

• Ability to multi task with consistency and accuracy

• Highly organised, able to manage a variety of work-streams effectively

• Ability to work efficiently in a structured, methodical manner

• Have strong administration skills, with an ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively

• Collaborative, proactive and dynamic approach

• Committed to finding solutions, with ability to use initiative and common sense

• Able to communicate effectively, build and maintain a rapport with people at all levels

• Ability to manage difficult conversations effectively and hold conversations at a technical level

• Ability to listen, and have confidence to question if the understanding of requirements is not absolutely clear

• Ability to interpret information speedily and accurately, and take appropriate actions

• Be able to convey information concisely to appropriate personnel
