Job summary

Vida Education is recruiting a BSL Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist Deaf Support provision at a good secondary school in Preston. The role involves supporting Deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in mainstream and specialist settings, helping them access learning and build confidence.

You will work 1:1 and in small groups, using BSL and Sign-Supported English, and collaborate with teachers and the SEND team to monitor progress and support EHCP targets.

Qualifications

• BSL Level 2 or above is required.
• Experience working with children or young people is essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Patient, supportive and confident approach is important.
• Experience supporting Deaf or hearing-impaired pupils or working in SEND settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support.
• Use BSL and Sign-Supported English to support communication.
• Help pupils access lessons and adapt learning resources as needed.
• Support pupils with hearing aids and assistive technology.
• Work closely with teachers and the SEND team.
• Support pupils with EHCP targets and monitor progress.
