Job summary

Veritas Education is seeking a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil on a long-term, 1:1 basis. The role starts immediately in a primary school setting, with hours 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

You will work closely with staff to ensure the pupil can access learning, communicate effectively using British Sign Language, and stay engaged throughout lessons.

Qualifications

  • BSL training or qualification is essential.
  • Experience working with children in a school/educational setting.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent support.
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach.
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil throughout the school day.

BSL Teaching Assistant - Primary School

Are you a Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) training looking for a rewarding role supporting a child on a 1:1 basis? I'm working with a primary school seeking a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil on a long-term basis, starting immediately.

This role involves providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day, helping the child access learning, communicate effectively, and fully engage in classroom activities.

Key Details:
  • Year Group: Year 5
  • Role: 1:1 support for a pupil requiring British Sign Language communication support
  • Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Start Date: Immediate start
  • Contract: Long-term ongoing role
Requirements:
  • Training or qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) is essential
  • Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting
  • Ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent support
  • Strong communication skills and a patient, nurturing approach
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs would be desirable
