Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a dedicated BSL Support Worker to help Deaf and hard-of-hearing students access learning across Lincolnshire schools. You will work in daily supply and long-term roles, collaborating with teachers to tailor support and foster inclusion.

The ideal candidate will have BSL skills, a genuine commitment to supporting students, and a patient, proactive approach to education. DBS clearance is expected.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in British Sign Language appropriate to the role.
• Experience supporting Deaf or hard-of-hearing students is desirable.
• Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience working with children or young people in educational or support settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide communication support to Deaf and hard-of-hearing students using BSL.

We're looking for passionate and dedicated BSL Support Assistant to work across a range of schools and educational settings in Lincolnshire on a daily supply and long-term basis. As a BSL Support Worker, you will:

• Provide communication support to Deaf and hard-of-hearing students using British Sign Language (BSL).
• Support students to access classroom learning and engage with lesson activities.
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure students' individual needs are met.
• Help students develop their communication skills, confidence and independence.
• Adapt support to suit individual learning styles and communication needs.
• Encourage positive participation in lessons and wider school activities.
• Support students' social and emotional development, promoting inclusion and wellbeing.
• Maintain a positive, supportive and accessible learning environment.

To join us and be successful as a BSL Support Worker, you will need to:

• Have British Sign Language skills appropriate to the requirements of the role.
• Have a genuine passion for supporting Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
• Demonstrate patience, empathy and excellent communication skills.
• Be confident supporting students with their learning, communication and independence.
• Have experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting (desirable).
• Hold relevant BSL qualifications or experience (desirable, depending on the role).
• Have an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, with overseas police clearances where applicable, or be willing to obtain one.
• Be able to provide professional references.
• Have a CV covering the last 10 years of employment history where possible.
• Have the legal right to work in the UK.
