Job summary

Bauer Media Audio is looking for a Broadcast Engineer to support its London hub and connected radio operations. You will diagnose faults, maintain audio systems, and help manage playout, automation and IP-based workflows across multiple studios.

You will work with presenters, producers and content teams to ensure on-air reliability, while contributing to video and IP-based projects and Outside Broadcasts. The role combines hands-on engineering with IT and software skills in a dynamic broadcast

Qualifications

  • Experience in broadcast engineering or media technology.
  • Strong understanding of audio signal flow and broadcast workflows.
  • Experience supporting Audio-over-IP technologies such as Livewire, Dante, AES67 or Axia.
  • Experience working with radio playout and automation systems.
  • Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP and IP-based workflows.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to support both software and hardware environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Customer-focused approach and willingness to support a wide variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing and resolving studio and broadcast faults quickly to minimise disruption to live services.
  • Supporting and maintaining studio audio systems, including microphones, mixing consoles, routing, monitoring, processing and talkback systems.
  • Maintaining and supporting digital playout, automation, scheduling and logging platforms.
  • Supporting Audio-over-IP broadcast infrastructure.
  • Assisting with studio video systems, including video-over-IP, streaming and content capture technologies.
  • Working closely with presenters, producers, journalists and content teams to provide responsive technical support.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance, testing and system health checks.
  • Producing and maintaining technical documentation, configuration records and operational procedures.
  • Supporting resilience, continuity and disaster recovery initiatives across broadcast systems.
  • Supporting Outside Broadcasts, live events, festivals and special projects.
  • Working collaboratively with infrastructure teams, broadcast specialists and technology teams across the UK and Ireland.
  • Working with suppliers and vendors to resolve platform and software issues.
  • Participating in an on-call rota supporting critical broadcast operations.
