Job summary

BSL Plus Limited is seeking a part-time British Sign Language Communication Support Worker to assist Deaf staff and service users across Berkshire/Buckinghamshire. The role includes on-site or in-house BSL provisions, SSE support, and travel across the UK.

Responsibilities include autonomy in delivering adaptations, empowering service users, and providing feedback to the line manager. Driving is required, with mileage reimbursement and flexible hours where possible.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BSL Level 3 certificate.
  • Own a car.
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK.
  • Be prepared to work weekends and evenings.

  • Provide Access to Work BSL Provisions to our Deaf staff on site or in-house.
  • Provide BSL and/or SSE communications support to Deaf Service Users.
  • Have clear speech and deliver adaptations of provisions in line with the Service Users support needs.
  • Empower, encourage and promote confidence, independence and successes to your allocated Service Users.
  • Provide daily feedback to your Line Manager.
  • Transport Service Users to and from Assignments.
  • Be prepared to travel the UK where required.
  • Be prepared to take on weekend and evening work where required.

  • "part-time" BSL CSA during term times only

A British Sign Language Communication Support Worker (aka Assistant) with a minimum BSL Level 3 certification.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skill-set;

  • Deaf awareness, reliability, punctuality, communication skills, people skills, the ability to build rapport with all, adaptability, organisation skills, admin skills, the willingness to progress and develop. Commitment, confidence, respect for professional boundaries, a positive attitude and a desire to get stuck-in

BSL Communication Support support on various Assignments

Your duties will include the following:

BSL Assignments – (Includes);

  • Provide Access to Work BSL Provisions to our Deaf staff on site or in-house
  • Provide BSL and/or SSE communications support to Deaf Service Users
  • Have clear speech and deliver adaptations of provisions in line with the Service Users support needs
  • Empower, encourage and promote confidence, independence and successes to your allocated Service Users
  • Provide daily feedback to your Line Manager
  • Transport Service Users to and from Assignments
  • Be prepared to travel the UK where required
  • Be prepared to take on weekend and evening work where required

Admin aspect – (Includes);

  • Have clear, written communication skills with adequate grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Familiarise yourself with the latest news, events and social gatherings and report to your Line Manager (Enterprise Resource Planning)
  • Other

In addition – (You will);

  • Work alongside our Quality Control Supervisor on-site where required
  • Be placed on relative training courses and be shadowed on-site
  • Require a clean driving license and your own car
  • Provide the logistics aspect to Service Users where required
  • Remain flexible and willing to travel wherever necessary for Assignments
  • Have the ability to work autonomously
