Job Description

Our client, a well-established Specialist lender, is seeking an Underwriting Manager with a strong background in Bridging Finance to join the team in Hertfordshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, and able to deputise for, the Lending Director in the operation and management of the Underwriting and Loan Management teams. They will provide management and oversight for all underwriting and portfolio activities from loan application through to repayment.

The right individual will need a proven track record in Bridging loans, including demonstrated leadership in managing teams and overseeing lending processes.

An extensive understanding of development lending, with excellent analytical, technical, and loan structuring skills, is a prerequisite. Experience in loan recovery management is also desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Analyze applications sourced by the Business Development team, working collaboratively to identify and minimize key risk areas.
2. Critically review Credit reports prepared by the Business Development team, make recommendations to the Credit Committee, and confidently challenge decisions or suggest alternatives if necessary.
3. Oversee the preparation of formal loan documentation and the legal completion of loans with the Underwriting Team, using your experience and proactive problem-solving approach to address complex matters.
4. Monitor development loans and drawdowns with the Loan Portfolio team, and communicate progress to Investors.
5. Manage loan repayments and extension requests with the Loan Portfolio team, taking responsibility for more complex loans if needed.
