HS2 Ltd is recruiting a Senior Structures Engineer to join its Civil Structures SME team, providing technical leadership and engineering assurance across the HS2 programme.

You will review designs and guide strategy for bridges, culverts and retaining walls across hundreds of structures, with delegated authority to approve design departures. This role offers high impact on programme delivery and progression toward senior technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Significant bridge engineering experience across design, assessment, review or technical assurance.
• Experience on major infrastructure projects, ideally rail or complex civil works.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering standards and compliance.
• Proven ability to review complex designs and provide defensible recommendations.
• Experience managing technical risks, queries and design departures.
• Strong stakeholder management and engagement with senior engineers and contractors.
• Understanding of UK construction legislation including CDM Regulations 2015.
• Chartered Engineer status or active progression toward chartership.

Responsabilités

• Provide specialist bridge engineering expertise and technical assurance across HS2's structures portfolio.
• Review complex designs, technical submissions and departures, with delegated approval authority.
• Collaborate with contractors, designers and HS2 teams to resolve design challenges.
• Develop and promote engineering standards and governance across the programme.
• Assess safety, constructability, cost, and lifecycle performance in engineering decisions.
• Engage with four Main Works Civils contractors and internal HS2 stakeholders to resolve issues.
