Job summary

COWI in London is seeking a Graduate Engineer to join our Bridge Structures team. You will work on prestigious UK bridge and infrastructure programmes, collaborating with experienced engineers and progressing toward Chartership through a tailored development plan.

You will produce designs and calculations for diverse projects, review colleagues’ work, and participate in site visits and client reviews as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (completed or due to be awarded this summer).
• Genuine interest in Chartered Engineer status with commitment to achieve it.
• Some practical experience in an engineering environment (year in industry, summer placements or final year project).
• Familiarity with UK design standards, Eurocodes or equivalent for structural/bridge engineering.
• Understanding of CDM Regulations and designer duties.
• Experience in structural/bridge design and emphasis on technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Produce structural designs, assessments, and evaluations for bridge projects from concept through detailed design.
• Prepare structural calculations, reports, and specifications per codes and standards.
• Review calculations and drawings produced by others and maintain quality control.
• Interpret site data and survey results, perform structural analysis and develop calculation methods.
• Plan workload with project manager and track progress against budget and schedule.
• Attend site visits and represent the team in client meetings and design reviews.
