Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an Avonmouth Bridge Manager to join our client’s Specialist Bridges Inspection and Maintenance (SBIM) team in Bristol. You will oversee technical, engineering, and operational aspects ensuring safety, resilience and compliance while leading inspections, maintenance, renewals and enhancements.

The role requires strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills, with a focus on value for money and efficient delivery of complex works on a major M5 crossing.

Responsibilities

• Manage specialist bridge inspections, cyclic and reactive maintenance, and renewal schemes including design coordination and operational delivery.
• Ensure compliance and delivery of operations in accordance with CDM Regulations.
• Deliver maintenance solutions
• Deliver incident response and instant repairs
• Support delivery of renewal schemes including design, construction, and site supervision
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards including ISO31000, ISO22301, ISO9001, and ISO14001
• Maintain and manage Client's Stocks and Premises
• Implement a management system that addresses the 'Purple book' and gantry O&M manuals for their respective bridge
• Line management of an inspection and operations team
• Provide technical leadership to a team of inspectors, Project Managers and delivery teams
• Coordinate all work activities to maximise productivity, efficiency and value for money, ensuring seamless integration of inspections, maintenance, renewals and access operations

Job description

Our client is excited to offer a permanent opportunity for an accomplished Avonmouth Bridge Manager to join their Specialist Bridges Inspection and Maintenance (SBIM) team in Bristol.

The Avonmouth Bridge Manager oversees all technical, engineering, and operational aspects of the Avonmouth Bridge, ensuring its safety, resilience, and compliance with statutory and contractual standards. You'll lead inspections, maintenance, renewals, and enhancements, acting as the main point of contact for the Client's team.

The Avonmouth Bridge is a crucial M5 crossing over the River Avon, a 1,388-metre steel box‑girder structure carrying over 100,000 vehicles daily. As a vital gateway, it connects Bristol and the wider region, enduring heavy traffic and challenging conditions.
A central aspect of the role is to maximise value for money by driving operational efficiency and productivity. You'll coordinate workbanks, access, resources, and supply chains for smooth delivery and minimal disruption. The standard hours of work are 40 per week.

Key Responsibilities:
