Job summary

The Manchester College is seeking an experienced Brickwork Teacher to join the Automotive, Construction, Engineering and Logistics Department at the Openshaw Campus in Manchester. You will deliver Level 1 and Level 2 brickwork provision, supporting learners to develop practical skills and industry-ready behaviours within a collaborative curriculum team.

This permanent, full-time role is 35 hours per week with a competitive salary of £32,931 to £47,339 per annum, plus a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• Significant, recent bricklaying experience in a professional setting.
• Trade competence to Level 3 (or equivalent).
• Recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or willingness to achieve.
• Experience coaching or mentoring, or a strong motivation to move into teaching.
• Up-to-date knowledge of industry practices, tools, materials and safety.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment across programmes with well-planned lessons.
• Plan, assess and provide meaningful feedback to ensure learning outcomes.
• Support learners’ progress and wellbeing through collaboration with tutors and support staff.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Brickwork Lecturer to join our Construction team, delivering high-quality teaching across Level 1 and Level 2 provision. This is an excellent opportunity for both qualified teachers and industry professionals looking to transition into education. You will support learners to develop the practical skills, knowledge and professional behaviours required by the construction industry. As part of a collaborative curriculum team, you will deliver an inclusive, industry-relevant curriculum that supports learner achievement and progression. The role also involves contributing to continuous improvement, ensuring teaching reflects current industry standards and employer expectations.

This opportunity is based at our Openshaw Campus to join the Automotive, Construction, Engineering and Logistics Department as a Brickwork Teacher on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) basis.

Role Responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment across programmes, using well‑planned lessons, resources, and technology to support learner progress.
• Plan, assess and provide meaningful feedback, ensuring learning outcomes are met and students know how to develop further.
• Support learners’ progress and wellbeing by working collaboratively with tutors and support staff to meet diverse learner needs.
• Maintain accurate records and meet quality standards, including registers, assessment records, quality assurance processes, and compliance with college policies.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Significant, recent industry experience in bricklaying.
• Trade competence to Level 3 (or equivalent industry standard).
• A recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one (fully supported by the College).
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or willingness to achieve within an agreed timeframe).
• Experience of coaching, mentoring, or supporting others, or a strong motivation to move into teaching.
• Up-to-date knowledge of industry practices, tools, materials, and safety standards.
• Level 3 brickwork skills or equivalent industry experience.
• Flexibility to work across college sites and support occasional evening activities.
