Job summary

Mears Group in Folkestone is seeking an experienced bricklayer to join our responsive repairs team. This hands-on role focuses on bricklaying and related grounds work within occupied social housing properties.

You will work to high standards, be reliable, and coordinate with other trades on-site. A valid UK driving licence and a professional approach are essential to deliver safe, quality results for residents.

Qualifications

• Experienced in bricklaying and confident in carrying out all listed duties.
• Previous experience working within social housing environments.
• Strong customer service skills, with a professional and respectful approach.

Responsibilities

• Building new brick walls.
• Restoring damaged or deteriorated brickwork.
• Identifying and repairing cracks or fractures in walls to prevent further damage and maintain safety.
• Rendering full walls.
• Mixing and applying mortar or adhesives to bind bricks and blocks.
• Cutting bricks or blocks to size using hand or power tools.
• Constructing foundations, retaining walls, and other structural elements.
• Repointing brickwork to improve appearance and structural integrity.
• Reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
• Setting out and levelling courses to ensure accurate alignment.
• Installing damp-proofing or insulation materials where required.
• Working with other trades to coordinate site activities.
• Maintaining tools and equipment and ensuring safe working practices.
• Cleaning work areas and disposing of waste materials responsibly.
• Adhering to health and safety regulations on-site.
• Applying decorative finishes or brick patterns as needed.

We’re looking for an experienced and reliable Bricklayer to join our growing team, supporting a busy responsive repairs contract in Folkestone. This is a practical, hands-on role focused on delivering a wide range of bricklaying and grounds working duties within occupied social housing properties.

With a consistent pipeline of work and a strong commitment to raising housing standards, this is a great opportunity to be part of a team making a real impact in the community.
