Job summary

H&W Brewery Blandford seeks a Brewing Apprentice to learn traditional and modern methods, from raw ingredients to beer transfer to packaging. The program combines on-the-job learning with Nottingham University training at their campus, building foundational brewing knowledge and practical skills.

You will join a growing team in a state-of-the-art brewery with support to achieve a Level 4 apprenticeship in Brewing and a long-term career in the business.

  • Physically able to cope with strenuous work including frequent lifting.
  • Flexible and willing to work in varied settings with machine use.
  • Willing to travel to Nottingham University for off-site study.

We have a great opportunity to join us as an apprentice in our brewing team to develop the foundational knowledge, skills and confidence to build a career in Brewing. The Brewing apprenticeship is a mix of practical on job learning with our experienced brewers, supported by technical training from Nottingham University via off-site learning at their campus.

The apprenticeship will cover traditional and modern brewing methods and develop capability from the intake of raw ingredients, through each stage of the brewing process through to transfer of the finished beer to the packaging department.

  • Well organized and a confident communicator who is accurate with an eye for detail
  • Able to meet the academic entry criteria of minimum 5 passes at GCSE including English and Maths
  • Interested in beer and brewing and fully committed to achieving success as part of a team
  • Physically able to cope with strenuous work including frequentlifting and manual handling
  • Flexible and willing to work in a variety of settings learning to use a range of machines and equipment
  • Able to work in patterns 41 hrs per week which may include 12-hour shifts, including days, nights and weekends.
  • Comfortable with IT and digital administration systems
  • Experienced in a similar industrial production environment
  • Safety in the workplace and environmentally aware
  • Able to reliably manage the commute
  • Willing to travel to Nottingham University to undertake essential off-site study
