Job summary

Hall & Woodhouse is seeking a Mechanical Shift Engineer to join our engineering team at the Blandford brewery site. This is an excellent long-term role with no night shifts, offering stability, strong benefits and clear career progression.

You will perform planned preventative maintenance, maintain steam, hydraulics, cooling and water systems, and support continuous improvement. A hands-on, proactive team player with NVQ or apprenticing in mechanical engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years engineering experience in FMCG, food, beverage or manufacturing.
• NVQ or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering.
• Hands-on skills: welding, fabrication, bench fitting.
• Strong knowledge of steam, hydraulics, compressed air, cooling and water systems.
• Knowledge of PSSR and LOLER compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
• Maintain and repair mechanical systems (steam, compressed air, hydraulics, cooling, water).
• Ensure engineering standards compliance (PSSR, LOLER).
• Complete calibration schedules and regulatory checks.
• Support continuous improvement and reduce downtime.
• Diagnose faults quickly to maintain production.
• Maintain maintenance records using CMMS / IT systems.
• Promote health and safety best practice on site.
