Babcock International Group is hiring a Breathing Apparatus Trainer for onsite roles at Beckton or Park Royal, near London. The position involves delivering hands-on, safety-critical training to support London’s frontline fire crews and their readiness.

The role requires Level 3+ training or above, teaching/assessment experience, and a passion for training. It is a full-time, onsite role with a 37.5-hour week, with some weekend work and a mandatory medical/exam as part of employment.

Qualifications

• Training or assessing qualification at Level 3 or above (can be obtained through Babcock).
• Experience teaching, coaching, assessing or presenting to groups of adults (desirable).
• Fire-related background or operational experience (advantageous).
• A passion for training, with an adaptable and engaging approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver core firefighter skills training, including Breathing Apparatus and Level 3 apprenticeship modules.
• Assess learner performance and provide constructive feedback to support progression.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment following Fit to Train, safety and welfare policies.
• Manage learner welfare issues and escalate concerns via safeguarding procedures.
• Ensure training resources and equipment are suitable and raise issues with senior colleagues.

The role

As a Breathing Apparatus Trainer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering hands‑on, safety‑critical training that directly supports the operational readiness of London’s frontline fire crews. Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

• Delivering core firefighter skills training, including Breathing Apparatus and Level 3 apprenticeship modules.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This is a full-time, onsite role working 37.5 hours per week based at Park Royal or Beckton, near London. You will be working Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends.

Essential experience of the Breathing Apparatus Trainer:

• Training or assessing qualification at Level 3 or above (can be obtained through Babcock).
• Experience teaching, coaching, assessing or presenting to groups of adults (desirable).
• Fire‑related background or operational experience (advantageous).
• A passion for training, with an adaptable and engaging approach.
