  • Manage learner welfare issues and escalate concerns via safeguarding procedures.
  • Ensure training resources and equipment are suitable and raise issues with senior colleagues.

The role

As a Breathing Apparatus Trainer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering hands‑on, safety‑critical training that directly supports the operational readiness of London’s frontline fire crews. Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
  • Delivering core firefighter skills training, including Breathing Apparatus and Level 3 apprenticeship modules.
  • Assessing learner performance and providing constructive feedback to support progression.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment following Fit to Train, safety and welfare policies.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.

This is a full-time, onsite role working 37.5 hours per week based at Park Royal or Beckton, near London. You will be working Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends.

Essential experience of the Breathing Apparatus Trainer:
  • Training or assessing qualification at Level 3 or above (can be obtained through Babcock).
  • Experience teaching, coaching, assessing or presenting to groups of adults (desirable).
  • Fire‑related background or operational experience (advantageous).
  • A passion for training, with an adaptable and engaging approach.
