Job summary

Gwynedd Council is seeking a General Kitchen Assistant to prepare simple breakfast foods, serve meals and keep the kitchen and dining area clean. You will work under the Cook in Charge and support kitchen operations during breakfast service.

Applicants should have basic food hygiene or be willing to complete training within 3 months; Welsh and English language skills are required as outlined in the Person Specification. A supportive council environment with training opportunities is offered.

Qualifications

• Work as part of a school and kitchen team.
• Basic food hygiene or willing to pass within 3 months.
• Willingness to learn Welsh to required level.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in food production environment (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Prepare simple breakfast foods and serve.
• Set up and clear dining room; wash equipment.
• Keep kitchen and dining area clean.
• Maintain cleanliness of dining room floor.
• Carry out general kitchen duties including washing dishes.
• Be in charge of the kitchen during the breakfast session if required.
• Comply with Health and Safety and Food Safety policies.
