Job Purpose & Overview:

We are seeking an Account Controller with strong Bookkeeping and Management Accounts experience to join our well-established construction business, based in West London. This is a full-time, office-based role, ideal for someone who thrives in a structured work environment and enjoys being a key part of a close-knit team.

This position is maternity cover and will be offered on a 13-month fixed-term contract.

As the company is growing, there is a strong possibility it could lead to a permanent role.

Must be able to start in September.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing general bookkeeping tasks including input of suppliers, subcontractors, and sales invoices
  • Post all bank payments and receipts and perform regular bank reconciliations
  • Oversee Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable processes
  • Manage debt collection for all company debtors
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly end close including journals, prepayments, accruals, and fixed asset accounting
  • Produce accurate balance sheet and P&L reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Prepare monthly job cost reports
  • Conduct VAT and CIS Returns preparation

Process payments via online banking systems.

Undertake any reasonable duties as directed by the Director/Accountant to ensure the smooth running of the department.

Required Skills:

  • Strong bookkeeping skills, with experience of a minimum of 5 years.
  • Experience in the construction industry (preferred, minimum 1 year).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of VAT returns and complex accounting journal preparation and posting.
  • Ability to manage administrative tasks alongside bookkeeping responsibilities.
