Job summary

EQ Accountants, part of the Sumer Group, is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to manage a client portfolio, with a focus on agriculture. The role involves handling AP/AR, bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and onboarding clients to bookkeeping software. Training clients on Xero and SAGE is required.

The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills, excellent client communication, and enjoy working in a collaborative, supportive team within a dynamic firm.

Qualifications

• Proven experience handling bookkeeping services for a portfolio of clients.
• Willingness to learn with on-the-job training and familiarity with Xero or SAGE desirable.
• Strong numerical ability and excellent communication via phone, MS Teams or email.
• Team player who collaborates to meet tight deadlines and adapt to change.
• Agriculture sector experience is a plus but not essential.

We're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to look after a portfolio of clients, particularly within the agriculture sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and receivable for a portfolio of clients
• Complete bank reconciliations with accuracy and efficiency
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Setting up client software for clients wishing to undertake their own bookkeeping
• Providing helpful training to clients on using Xero & SAGE

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Proven experience handling bookkeeping services for a portfolio of clients (agriculture client experience desired but not essential)
• You will be eager to learn as we provide on the job learning with internal training provided, although knowledge of bookkeeping software such as Xero & SAGE would be desirable
• Have good numerical skills and excellent communication skills to talk with clients over the phone, on MS Teams or over email
• Be a team player and thrive in a collaborative environment, willing to share knowledge, support colleagues and be happy to work as part of a team to meet tight deadlines
• Be comfortable with change and excited by the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment
