Job summary

Booking Clerk

We require an enthusiastic, organised and flexible individual to support patient scheduling within the Adult Audiology Team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) NHS Foundation Trust.

The Department is based at RDH but also has a satellite service at FNCH in town and delivers services across multiple community locations.

Responsibilities of this role are focussed around booking/rescheduling patient appointments, administration and clerical duties supporting the wider Audiology Team.

Working across both RDH and FNCH sites will be a requirement.

Options for full time, part time or job share are possible.

Main duties of the job

Applicants must be excellent communicators with the ability to liaise with colleagues and patients. Essential qualities are strong organisational/time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. Flexibility is required as the post holder will be required across the two main sites.

Applicants should have demonstrable experience of working in a busy customer-focused or care environment or have call handling/reception experience. Applicants must be experienced in using IT systems and/or appointment systems although training will be given.

Core skills/qualifications include: educated to English Language and Mathematics at O' level/GCSE level, IT literacy, good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and individually, with minimal supervision.

We see on average 4810 OP appointments a day. We are the 4th busiest Trauma & Orthopaedic outpatients department in England - an average of 2077 per week. An average of 1115 patients are seen in A&Es across our network every day - 3rd largest in the country. Our hospitals admit an average of 195 emergency patients daily. Last year we undertook almost 33,700 planned surgical operations in our 57 operating theatres. We are one of only 7 Trusts nationally with more than 50 operating theatres. We carry out more than 140 elective procedures each working day. UHDB is a research active University Hospital with a large and varied portfolio of clinical trials and research opportunities for all staff.
