Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is hiring a BMS Design Engineer to design and develop Building Management System solutions for commercial, industrial and critical environments. You will create FDS, network architectures and GUIs, and support commissioning teams with technical input.

You will work on Metasys and Tridium Niagara platforms, configure BACnet/Modbus/LonWorks networks, and supervise junior staff while delivering energy-efficient, compliant control strategies and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience as a BMS Design Engineer or similar role.
• Knowledge of Metasys and Tridium Niagara platforms.
• Experience producing control strategies and operation documentation.
• Understanding of HVAC systems and building services.
• Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks and Ethernet networks.
• Good understanding of LAN, WAN, TCP/IP and server installs.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Design Building Management System solutions aligned to client requirements and standards.
• Develop control strategies for HVAC and building services.
• Produce FDS, points schedules and network drawings.
• Configure BMS architectures and GUIs; deploy to engineering teams.
• Bench test equipment and deploy controllers/servers.
• Generate technical documentation and design packages.
• Integrate systems using BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, TCP/IP.
• Support commissioning and address design issues.
• Conduct site surveys and provide technical input to sales.
• Provide software support and commissioning assistance; mentor junior staff.
• Lead software/hardware upgrades for clients; stay updated on Metasys and Niagara platforms.

We are looking to add a BMS Design Engineer to our team! In this role you will be responsible for the design, development, and engineering of Building Management System (BMS) solutions for commercial, industrial, and critical environment projects for Johnson Controls. Working closely with project managers, commissioning engineers, clients, and installation teams, you will produce innovative, energy-efficient, and technically compliant control system designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Building Management System solutions in accordance with client requirements, Specifications and industry standards.

• Develop control strategies for HVAC and building services systems.

• Produce Functional Design Specifications (FDS), points schedules and network architecture drawings.

• Design and configure BMS software architectures and graphical user interfaces and provide deployment to the BMS Engineering teams.

• Bench test equipment ready for deployment including controllers and servers before deployment.

• Generate technical documentation and design packages.

• Design integrated systems using BACnet, Modbus, MQTT and TCP/IP.

• Support commissioning activities and resolve design issues.

• Conduct site surveys and support sales teams with technical input.

• Provide software support & commissioning assistance to the wider team when required.

• Supervise junior staff when required.

• Act as a Software expert and on occasions trainer.

• Leading Software and hardware upgrades for our clients

• Keep up to date on BMS software updates on Metasys and Tridium Niagara Platforms.

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience as a BMS Design Engineer or similar role.

• Knowledge of Metasys, Tridium Niagara platforms.

• Experience producing control strategies and Designation of operation documentation.

• Understanding of HVAC systems and building services.

• Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks and Ethernet networks.

• Good understanding of LAN, WAN, TCP-IP and Server Install

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
