Job summary

VirtueTech Recruitment Group is recruiting a BMS Design Engineer to join a well-established team in London. You will design BMS solutions, produce technical documentation and support project delivery for intelligent building systems.

This role covers creating control strategies for HVAC, developing schematics, coordinating with project managers and commissioning engineers, and ensuring designs meet client requirements and industry standards. Salary up to £70,000 plus benefits; on-site in London.

Qualifications

• Experience in BMS design, building controls engineering or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of HVAC and building automation principles.
• Experience producing BMS schematics, control strategies, points schedules and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with BMS platforms such as Trend, Tridium Niagara, Siemens or Schneider Electric.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical building services drawings.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Confident communicating with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Designing BMS control systems for commercial buildings and building services projects.
• Producing detailed control schematics, system architecture drawings and technical documentation.
• Developing BMS control strategies for HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and associated plant.
• Liaising with project managers, commissioning engineers and clients to ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Supporting commissioning teams by providing technical guidance and resolving design-related issues.
• Reviewing project specifications and ensuring designs meet client requirements and relevant industry standards.
• Assisting with technical queries, design changes and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency, energy performance and building automation.
• Supporting the delivery of projects from initial design through to installation and commissioning.

BMS Design Engineer – London – Up to £70,000

We are working with a well-established organisation to recruit an experienced BMS Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in Building Management Systems who enjoys developing control strategies, producing technical designs and contributing to the delivery of intelligent building solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing BMS solutions, producing technical documentation, supporting project delivery and working closely with project managers, commissioning engineers and clients to ensure systems are designed to meet project requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Designing BMS control systems for commercial buildings and building services projects.
• Producing detailed control schematics, system architecture drawings and technical documentation.
• Developing BMS control strategies for HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and associated plant.
• Working with BMS platforms such as Trend, Tridium Niagara, Siemens or Schneider Electric.
• Preparing points schedules, I/O lists, functional specifications and control panel requirements.
• Liaising with project managers, commissioning engineers, electrical engineers and mechanical building services teams.
• Supporting commissioning teams by providing technical guidance and resolving design-related issues.
• Reviewing project specifications and ensuring designs meet client requirements and relevant industry standards.
• Assisting with technical queries, design changes and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency, energy performance and building automation.
• Supporting the delivery of projects from initial design through to installation and commissioning.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in BMS design, building controls engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building automation principles.
• Experience producing BMS schematics, control strategies, points schedules and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with BMS platforms such as Trend, Tridium Niagara, Siemens or Schneider Electric.
• Understanding of control panels, field devices, sensors, actuators and communication protocols.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical building services drawings.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Confident communicating with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
