At West Suffolk Foundation Trust, you will oversee our transfusion services, ensuring accurate processing and delivery of blood products in line with safety and quality standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a collaborative healthcare environment.
You will manage the daily operations of the blood transfusion laboratory, leading a team of biomedical scientists and support staff. Responsibilities include overseeing testing, processing, and distribution of blood and blood components, maintaining compliance with clinical guidelines, regulatory standards, and Trust policies. You will also be involved in staff training, quality improvement initiatives, and technological enhancements.
Our department uses Grifols Erytra analysers and issues approximately 5,000 units of blood annually. We hold ISO 15189:2012 accreditation, with a planned transition to ISO 15189:2022 in early 2025. Join us in delivering life-saving care and supporting our commitment to excellence.
The Laboratory Manager will oversee team activities, lead service improvements, and be responsible for service quality. You will define, implement, and monitor performance and quality standards, and hold overall responsibility for health and safety within the laboratory. Essential skills include excellent communication, workload prioritisation, and knowledge of service planning and accreditation systems.
