Our organisation is all about people – the residents of our homes, the communities we serve, and our employees. We recruit for attitude and behaviour, which are central to building relationships and delivering great experiences. We seek passionate colleagues who are responsible and proactive.

As a not-for-profit housing association, we provide affordable homes and services to over 20,000 people across Greater Manchester. We have a strong social purpose and aim to enable people to live well in their homes and communities.

If you are passionate about fire safety, detail-oriented, enjoy completing tasks, and want to join a team that values these qualities, this is a great opportunity to start your career in fire safety.

This role will help you develop knowledge of fire safety regulations and assist Irwell Valley Homes in complying with statutory obligations. You will receive full training, ongoing mentoring, and opportunities for career progression, including external qualifications for suitable candidates.

Your responsibilities will include inspecting communal areas of our blocks to ensure compliance with legislation, visiting all blocks weekly or monthly, and recording inspections. You will also assist the Fire Safety Team with tasks such as granting contractor access and installing fire safety signage, while maintaining customer satisfaction and managing associated risks.

We need people who have:
  • Experience in completing inspections or audits
  • High standards of customer care and service
  • Interpersonal skills for liaising with colleagues and customers
  • Knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and best practices (desirable but not essential)
  • Fire Safety qualifications / NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (desirable)

A full valid driving licence is required due to the nature of the role.

Everyone’s welcome here. Our culture is inclusive, and we are committed to increasing diversity. We support everyone to be themselves at work, creating a welcoming environment. We encourage applications from females, especially in underrepresented areas such as Trades and Construction.

If you want to join our team and make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
