Job summary

Belong, based in the North West, invites applications for a Bistro and Catering Manager at Birkdale, England. You will lead catering across the care village, including the bistro, households and function spaces, crafting menus for diverse diets and ensuring homemade, nutritious meals.

You will recruit and coach a skilled team, maximise profitability, manage stock and budgets, and collaborate with Household teams to deliver outstanding service while upholding Belong's values.

Qualifications

• Experience leading catering teams and managing budgets.
• Proven ability to maximise profitability and control stock.
• Diploma certifications listed above.
• Experience catering for large numbers (50+).
• Current driving license.

As the Bistro and Catering Manager you will be:

• Commercially astute with the ability to maximise financial performance and manage budgets
• Compassionate, with the expertise to recruit, coach and lead a skilled catering team and work with our Household teams to provide homemade nutrition meals
• Customer focussed, working with the team to exceed expectations
• Experienced in creating menus for a wide range of diets and ages, including the children attending our ground breaking intergenerational nursery.

Requirements

• Demonstrates qualities to deliver belong vision and values appropriate to this level, committed to delivering excellent customer service
• Ability to communicate professionally at all levels
• Proven experience of leading, performance managing and developing teams and individuals to ensure excellent customer service
• Strong business acumen with experience of maximising profitability ; budgetary control, stock control, orders and dealing with suppliers
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and plan/ prioritise work, remaining calm under pressure
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office and IT skills with the ability to use bespoke software
• Ability to undertake moving & handling of loads including the operation of commercial catering equipment
• Experience of catering for large numbers e.g. 50 or more
• Award for Personal License Holders (APLH) Level 2 or equivalent
• Good understanding of H&S Regulations, COSHH and HACCP
• Diploma level 3 in Professional Cooking
• Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 4 or equivalent (essential or working/prepared to work towards)
• Reliable and able to fulfil contracted hours and work patterns e.g. days and weekends
• Holds a current driving license and access to a vehicle
• Confidently builds productive and positive relationships with colleagues, customers, visitors and professionals
• Good understanding of the dietary needs of older people or people with a physical, cognitive or sensory impairment
