Job summary

South West London Pathology is seeking a Band 2 Biomedical Support Worker in the Blood Sciences Team at Epsom and St Helier hospitals. The core work involves supporting out-of-hours blood testing, preparing samples, entering patient data and handling enquiries in pathology specimen reception.

It is a pan-pathology role on a seven-day rota of early, late and night shifts, including bank holidays once trained, and may involve work at any Trust site.

Qualifications

• GCSEs or O levels in Maths, English Language, Biology and Chemistry, or equivalent.
• Experience of working collaboratively in a large team.
• Knowledge across a range of laboratory procedures.
• Accuracy and attention to detail under pressure in a busy environment.
• Ability to communicate information accurately and follow written methodologies or protocols.
• Computer skills and ability to work with different IT systems.
• Organised and methodical approach.

Responsibilities

• Support out-of-hours Blood Sciences testing.
• Prepare samples for analysis.
• Input patient data.
• Deal with enquiries within pathology specimen reception.
• Work early, late and night shifts over a seven-day roster, including bank holidays, once fully trained.
• Train, then provide a service at any of the Trust sites.
