Job summary

The Academy is seeking Biomedical Scientists to perform laboratory analyses for disease diagnosis, treatment monitoring and population screening. You will work across NHS pathology labs with opportunities in clinical chemistry, haematology, microbiology, histology, cytology or transfusion.

Ideal candidates hold HCPC registration, an IBMS-accredited BSc in Biomedical Science, and have IBMS Portfolio completed. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration required
• IBMS accredited BSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent
• IBMS Registration Portfolio completed
• Clinical experience in at least one pathology discipline preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Analyse blood, tissue, urine and other samples for clinical diagnosis
• Specialise into clinical chemistry, haematology, microbiology, histology, cytology or transfusion
• Work across NHS pathology labs, private labs, public health labs and pharma R&D
• Interpret results and provide quality assurance
• Maintain and calibrate equipment
• Report results to clinicians
