Job summary

IMS Recruitment is recruiting a Biomedical Scientist for a 6-month fixed-term contract in a Gibraltar hospital. You will perform analytical testing in Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Coagulation, validate results, and assist with transfusion services under strict quality controls.

The role requires HCPC registration, a Biomedical Science degree, and at least three years of relevant experience. The position includes accommodation and flights, with a pro rata salary of £31,897–£37,845 per year,

Qualifications

Must be registered with the UK HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).
BSc or higher degree in Biomedical Science is required.
At least 3 years of experience in the relevant specialism is expected.

Responsibilities

Perform analytical testing in Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Coagulation.
Validate and authorise patient results per laboratory policies.
Perform blood grouping, antibody screening, crossmatching, and issue of blood components.
Investigate abnormal results and liaise with clinicians as needed.
Ensure compliance with quality management systems and accreditation standards.
Calibrate analysers, troubleshoot, and perform advanced QC procedures.
Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes.
