Job summary

IMS Recruitment is seeking a Biomedical Scientist / Laboratory Medicine Scientist for a 6-month fixed-term contract in Gibraltar. The post requires HCPC registration, a biomedical science degree, and at least 3 years’ experience in haematology, transfusion, or related areas.

Responsibilities include analytical testing, result validation, blood grouping, and adherence to quality systems. On offer: £31,897–£37,845 pro rata, free accommodation, and return flights.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered and eligible to work in the UK.
• BSc or higher in Biomedical Science.
• At least 3 years' experience in haematology or transfusion.
• Experience with Sysmex analysers desirable.
• Experience with coagulation testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing in Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Coagulation.
• Validate and authorize patient results.
• Perform blood grouping, antibody screening, crossmatching, and issue of blood components.
• Investigate abnormal results and liaise with clinicians.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to quality management systems.
• Calibrate analyzers and perform advanced quality control procedures.
• Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes.
• Develop and implement SOPs in line with best practice.
• Monitor donor serology and inventory of blood components.
• Ensure haemovigilance compliance.
