Job summary

IMS Recruitment is seeking a Biomedical Scientist for a Gibraltar hospital on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will perform analytical testing in Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Coagulation, and validate patient results in line with laboratory policies.

The role requires HCPC registration, a BSc Biomedical Science and at least 3 years’ relevant experience. The post offers accommodation and return flights, with a pro rata salary of £31,897–£37,845 per annum depending on experience.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration is required.
• BSc or higher degree in Biomedical Science.
• At least 3 years’ experience in the relevant specialty.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing in Haematology, Blood Transfusion, and Coagulation.
• Validate and authorise patient results according to laboratory policies.
• Perform blood grouping, antibody screening, crossmatching, and issue of blood components.
• Investigate abnormal results and liaise with clinicians.
• Ensure compliance with quality management systems and accreditation standards.
• Perform analyser calibration, troubleshooting, and QC procedures.
• Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Authorise complex transfusion decisions and investigate reactions.
