Job summary

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Biomedical Scientist to join the Histopathology Department. You will rotate through sections, perform embedding, IHC and dissection room work, and provide support for audits and development projects.

The role involves training Trainee BMS, handling data in lab systems, and maintaining high safety standards within a busy hospital laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• IBMS accredited biomedical sciences degree or current trainee BMS.
• HCPC registration pathway described in the role.
• Interest in digital pathology and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Work as a biomedical scientist in all laboratory sections.
• Perform section cutting, embedding, staining and immunohistochemistry.
• Carry out frozen section services and Mohs sections where required.
• Contribute to staff training, quality control and new projects.
• Support laboratory development and audits.
• Enter patient data into lab systems daily and ensure accuracy.
• Create and update patient databases for internal/external access.
• Educate trainee BMS and support staff in specialised areas.
• Promote safe working practices across the department.
