Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist specialising in Haematology to join our team.

Role Overview

The post holder will work closely with the Lead Biomedical Scientist and Senior Biomedical Scientists to provide a 24/7 laboratory service to the Trust and its users. They will act as a registered Biomedical Scientist working in Haematology and Blood Transfusion, providing scientific services on patient samples to aid clinical diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of paediatric disease.

Candidate Requirements
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of laboratory haematology, coagulation, and blood transfusion.
  • Willingness to rotate between all sections of the haematology laboratory.
  • Participation in out-of-hours working arrangements with appropriate training.
  • Enthusiasm to join a dedicated team providing high-quality service.
  • Applications are welcomed from students in their third year of the Applied Biomedical Science Degree working towards HCPC registration.
Department Equipment and Accreditation

The department is well equipped with Sysmex XN2000, Sysmex CS2400, Grifols Erytra, Beckman Coulter Navios, Tosoh G8, and Meditech computer system. It is accredited for training with the IBMS.
