We have an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Histopathology Team within our Pathology Department at The London Clinic, Central London, W1G 7LJ. We offer a competitive salary range.

Job Profile

As a Biomedical Scientist, you will perform technical and scientific work in the laboratory under the supervision of the Chief/Senior Biomedical Scientist or Consultant, primarily within the Histopathology departments, ensuring adherence to scientific standards at all times.

  • Job Type: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Shifts: 37.5 hours/week, including 1 in 4 Saturdays on a rota basis.

Key Duties
  • Assist senior biomedical scientists with routine tasks such as embedding, microtomy, special staining, immunohistochemistry, specimen handling, biopsy/small tissue transfers, frozen sectioning, internal quality control, and Cytology processes (Gynae and Non-Gynae).
  • Follow policies and procedures at all times.
  • Participate in internal and external quality assurance processes.
  • Assist in evaluating new equipment and verifying methods.
  • Maintain stock control.
  • Operate and maintain analytical equipment after training and competency assessment.
  • Participate in rotational shift patterns covering routine and specialised laboratory work, including Mohs technique if fully trained.
Skills & Experience
  • HCPC post-registration histology laboratory experience.
  • Knowledge of UKAS requirements.
  • Strong laboratory skills in routine histology tasks such as embedding, microtomy, special staining, immunohistochemistry, specimen handling, biopsy/small tissue transfers, frozen sectioning, and quality control.
  • Experience with LIMS systems and patient data entry.
