We desire a candidate passionate about making a significant impact in Haematology & Blood Transfusion, with HCPC registration, substantial post-registration experience, and a blend of technical, interpersonal, and IT skills. Effective communication and the ability to work independently or collaboratively are essential.

This role involves maintaining and developing high-quality laboratory services, ensuring excellent care for clinical users, and maintaining our department's quality systems to achieve UKAS accreditation. Our haematology team is passionate about innovation and operates a 24/7 service, requiring full participation in all shifts.

Main duties of the job
  1. Provide a high-quality service as an efficient member of the Blood Sciences laboratory for Imperial College Healthcare Trust.
  2. Maintain laboratory safety and good practice according to guidelines.
  3. Collaborate with biomedical and clinical scientists to deliver comprehensive Blood Sciences services, as directed by the Department Head.
  4. Handle, process, and analyze samples, maintaining effective records and contributing to quality systems.
  5. Maintain laboratory equipment.
  6. Perform supervised laboratory procedures across all sections of the laboratory.
  7. Participate in training to maintain HPC registration and keep training records.

NWLP Induction

Induction occurs on the first Monday of each month (excluding bank holidays) and includes laboratory training relevant to the role. New staff must attend during their first week. Upcoming start dates for 2024/25 are:

  • Monday 4 August 2025
  • Monday 1 September 2025
  • Monday 6 October 2025
  • Monday 3 November 2025
  • Monday 1 December 2025
