Job summary

The University of Cambridge invites applications for a Service Technician (Barrier) to join our busy Biofacility in South Cambridge. You will help ensure smooth operation of the biomedical barrier, providing clean cages and equipment to staff and researchers.

After training you may operate simple machinery to prepare, clean, sterilise and maintain animal caging, support portering duties, maintain high cleanliness, and dispose of waste safely.

Qualifications

• Good communication and team skills with attention to detail.
• Able to read and write basic IT-related tasks.
• Experience with cagewash/autoclave equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate simple machinery to prepare, clean, sterilise and maintain animal caging and equipment.
• Distribute cages, equipment and scrubs to staff and researchers.
• Clean procedural areas and replenish PPE and gowns to high standards.
• Store and dispose of waste materials, including clinical waste, properly.
• Assist with general portering and internal distribution.
