Job summary

University of Cambridge is seeking an experienced Deputy Biofacility Manager in Cambridge. You will support day-to-day management, coordinate animal husbandry, and supervise a team of technicians to ensure high standards of animal care and welfare.

You will handle recruitment, training, and assessment of staff, ensure adherence to Home Office regulations, and perform licenced and unlicensed procedures alongside routine maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising or managing staff in a biofacility.
  • IAT Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Home Office Licence modules A-C and Personal Licence are required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Biofacility Manager with day-to-day management and staffing allocations.
  • Coordinate animal husbandry and supervise technicians.
  • Recruit, train and assess staff; ensure compliance with policies and Home Office regulations.
  • Undertake licenced and unlicensed procedures and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain records and handle out-of-hours call duties as required.
