Job summary

University of Cambridge seeks a motivated Service Technician to join its Biofacility team in Cambridge. The role focuses on keeping animal caging, equipment and consumables sterile and ready for staff and researchers.

Responsibilities include operating cagewash/autoclave equipment, stocking and delivering supplies, and assisting with general facility cleaning and PPE replenishment. A physically demanding role with attention to detail and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

  • Physically demanding role requiring regular lifting and manual dexterity.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small team.
  • Literacy, numeracy and basic IT literacy are important.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment to prepare, clean, sterilise and maintain animal caging and related equipment.
  • Ensure stocks of clean cages, equipment and consumables meet daily facility needs.
  • Assist with general facility cleaning and replenishment of PPE.
  • Support stores collection and delivery, stock maintenance and waste disposal including clinical waste.
  • Participate in health assessment and security checks after offer.
  • Provide reliable, detail-oriented service and manage own workload.
