Job summary

Basecamp Research is building frontier AI for therapeutic design and has offices in London and Boston. We are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Genomics team in London to turn diverse biological data into annotated, trustworthy resources for our models.

You will develop methods that label and mine data, design workflows for non-standard biology, and ensure data is machine-readable and production-ready at scale.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of biological data and sequence informatics with judgment to know when tools are misleading.
• Experience curating data that trains real models or feeds large-scale analyses.
• Ability to build or adapt tools when established ones don’t fit the task.

Responsibilities

• Analyse diverse biological datatypes, especially microbiomes, across prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
• Develop new methods and tools to label and mine this data.
• Design approaches for non-standard biology data and curate data to be model-ready.
• Prototype methods and validate on real, messy data at scale; hand off to production teams.
• Incorporate newer ML methods where appropriate and ensure data provenance and integrity.
