Job summary

Queen's Hospital Burton Biochemistry section seeks a Biomedical Scientist with HCPC registration and NHS automated blood sciences experience. The role involves sample processing, analyser maintenance, results authorisation shadowing, and supervising support staff.

It requires flexibility to work a 24/7 rota across nights, weekends and bank holidays, with cross-site work in Derbyshire Pathology. Internal candidates with pathology experience are welcome; sponsorship may not be available.

Qualifications

IBMS accredited BSc in Biomedical Sciences.

Responsibilities

Undertaking day-to-day sample processing.
Carrying out analyser maintenance.
Shadowing the authorisation of clinical results to maintain agreed KPIs.
Supervising support staff.
Supporting Associate Practitioners and BMS colleagues.
Working night, late, early, weekend and bank holiday shifts once trained and competency assessed.
Contributing to service development, quality management activities and projects.
Working cross site as part of Derbyshire Pathology when required.
