Job summary

Alignerr seeks a PhD-level biochemist to join as an AI Data Trainer. This fully remote hourly contract role leverages deep expertise in biochemistry to guide AI reasoning, with no prior AI experience required beyond rigorous scientific thinking.

You will design advanced problems, author ground-truth solutions, audit AI outputs, and refine AI reasoning. Flexible hours (10–40 hours/week) offer collaboration with leading researchers worldwide.

Qualifications

• PhD or PhD in final stages in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related field.
• Strong foundation in biochemistry, structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, genomics, or bioinformatics.
• Excellent scientific writing and ability to communicate complex concepts in English.

Your deep expertise in biochemistry is exactly what the next generation of AI needs. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more accurate scientific AI — and we need PhD-level biochemists to help us get there. This is a fully remote contract role where your knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics directly shapes how AI reasons about science. No prior AI experience required — just rigorous scientific thinking and a passion for getting the details right.

What You'll Do

• Design Advanced Problems — Craft complex, domain-specific biochemistry challenges spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to probe the limits of AI reasoning.
• Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical responses that serve as benchmark “golden answers” for high-level scientific tasks.
• Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and quantitative analyses for scientific accuracy, logical consistency, and safety.
• Refine AI Reasoning — Pinpoint where AI goes wrong — incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, misapplied kinetic models — and provide structured, actionable feedback to improve its scientific thinking.

Who You Are

• Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
• Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in one or more areas such as structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, genomics, or bioinformatics.
• Scientific Writer: Able to communicate highly technical biological and chemical concepts with precision and clarity in written English.
• Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols.
• No AI experience required — we'll get you up to speed.

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review
• Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
• Background in bioinformatics or cheminformatics
