The BIM Director
The BIM Director is responsible for leading the development and implementation of BIM strategy across the organization. This role drives innovation in design and construction processes through BIM technologies, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, and ensures the organization maximizes the benefits of BIM methodologies.
The primary responsibilities include managing BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement on all related projects for both Commercial and Industrial groups, developing a work plan/roadmap for BIM integration, and reviewing design documentation including demolition, structural alterations, furnishings, fixtures, fittings, lighting, and general design documents.
The BIM Director oversees the preparation and execution of documentation and drawings, reviews BIM Execution Plans (BEP), and ensures timely and accurate BIM deliverables that drive operational efficiency. Collaboration with other consultants' BIM requirements is essential.
Must successfully deliver projects from Concept to Completion, with comprehensive experience in Hospitality projects and working details from LOD 100 to LOD 400.
Job Responsibilities
The BIM Director will plan and organize interior design drawings for projects including:
- Hospitality (hotels and F&B)
- Private residences and residential developments
- Office spaces
- Retail locations, e.g., malls, shops, cafes, forecourts
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a BIM strategy aligned with company objectives.
- Lead BIM initiatives to improve design and construction efficiency and quality.
- Support project start-up, develop strategies for delivering quality documents, and ensure proper project setup.
- Prepare deployment strategies, resource schedules, and monitor BIM team performance, including weekly schedules and forecasts.
- Review and amend BIM standards, prepare SOPs, and assess BIM staff performance.
- Participate in recruitment and interviews for BIM roles.
- Enhance the organization’s BIM profile for business development.
BIM Management
- Develop, implement, and enforce BIM standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Ensure proper utilization of BIM tools across project phases.
- Manage content libraries, templates, and evaluate project models.
- Assess workflows, strategies, budgets, staffing, and upcoming projects.
- Create implementation plans and manage 3D BIM models, including clash detection and quality checks.
- Survey buildings and attend sites to ensure accurate data capture.
- Collaborate with quantity surveyors and design professionals to determine details and costs.
- Supervise modeling activities and oversee responses to client reviews.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Facilitate collaboration among architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Ensure effective communication of BIM processes and expectations.
Staff Development and Training
- Lead and guide the BIM team, promoting professional growth.
- Organize training sessions and onboarding for new hires.
- Upskill team members in BIM software and standards.
Quality Control
- Establish and perform BIM quality audits.
- Maintain BIM execution plans for each project.
- Audit project teams for compliance.
Technological Advancement
- Stay updated with BIM technology trends.
- Evaluate and recommend new software and tools.
- Attend industry conferences and disseminate best practices.
Project Oversight
- Monitor BIM execution plans, schedules, budgets, and quality.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build relationships with clients and stakeholders to promote BIM services.
- Communicate BIM benefits and ensure compliance with RFP requirements.
- Report to CEO on Revit matters and coordinate outsourcing or internal teams.
Data Management and Analysis
- Oversee data management initiatives within BIM processes.
- Analyze project performance data for improvements.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management.
- Manage external services, contracts, and monitor performance.
